Request for urgent parliamentary oversight intervention and constitutional processing of the Joint Task Team report on SATBVC pension grievances
Dear Madam Speaker
I address this open correspondence to your esteemed office on behalf of thousands of aggrieved former civil servants, police officers, educators, and military personnel from the former SATBVC states who have waited more than three decades for the equitable reconciliation of their pension benefits.
Despite numerous commitments by successive administrations and the thorough documentation prepared by the Joint Task Team, these elderly citizens—many of whom are now indigent or deceased—have been subjected to bureaucratic paralysis.
"A constitutional democracy cannot turn a blind eye to the legitimate labor and retirement claims of those who dedicated their prime years to public service."
We urge the National Assembly to immediately table the final recommendations of the SATBVC Task Team before the relevant Joint Standing Committee on Finance and Public Service, set strict deadlines for Treasury implementation, and guarantee retroactive redress to surviving spouses and dependents.
